About

I hold a B.S. Degree in Educational Psychology with minors in Music and Special Education. I did some masters level courses and practicums in counselling. I’ve worked in many counseling and therapeutic positions dealing with behavior in non-neuro-typical children and adolescents. I spent one school year in a volunteer group that provided disability education to elementary aged children after the passing of PL41-142. And over the last 23 years, I’ve been caregiver, therapist and treatment team for three children suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety, sensory processing disorder, and various levels on the autism spectrum on my own.  I’ve been a stay at home mom for 16 years now.  My son received his diagnosis of ASD in 2008.  My husband passed suddenly in 2009.  We fell through the cracks due to lack of health insurance.  We had no interventions or services beyond what the public school offered.  It’s been basically me and the boy for the last 10 years.  Currently, we have Occupational Therapy one hour a week.  The rest of his therapy has been all me and if you don’t mind, I’m a little proud of that.  I’m pro-vax, pro-choice, anti-drama, non-religious but highly spiritual and I’ve been called a liberal (although I’m not politically involved – I do vote).    In my spare time (LOL), I’m also a singer/songwriter, seamstress, crafter,  costumer, culinary explorer, science fiction fan, and I hang out with people from the Society for Creative Anachronism.  My favorite color is purple.  Thanks for stopping by.
